St George climate - any danger?
For St George climate there is always a danger of a hurricane bearing down on the Island. The hurricane tracks are far of St George but winds can take them anywhere.
Although St George is better adapted to dealing with hurricanes because its people have become used to them and are more aware of their impact. And there are places of substantial elevation.
As part of risk assessment, a computer programme has been devised to “fast forward” time and look at the likelihood of hurricanes of various strengths following historical tracks across the globe.
So tourism is full protected and you can safetly plan your trip. |

St George climate - a reason to plan your trip now
A semitropical island, Saint George enjoys a mild climate; the term "high" has come to mean sunny days and clear skies. The Gulf Stream, which flows between the island and North America, keeps the climate temperate. There's no rainy season and no typical month of excess rain. Showers may be heavy at times, but the skies clear quickly. Being farther north in the Atlantic than the Bahamas, Saint George is much cooler in winter. Springlike temperatures prevail from mid-December to late March, with the average temperature ranging from the low 60F to 70F (16C-21C). Unless it rains, winter is fine for golf and tennis but not for swimming; it can be cool, and you may even need a sweater or a jacket. Water temperatures in winter are somewhat like the air temperature, ranging from about 66F (19C) in January to 75F (24C) through March. Scuba divers and snorkelers will find Caribbean waters appreciably warmer in winter. From mid-November to mid-December and from late March to April, be prepared for unseasonable spurts of spring or summer weather. In summer, the temperature rarely rises above 85F (29C). There's nearly always a cool breeze in the evening, but some hotels have air-conditioning. And local water temperatures can be as high as 86F (30C) during the summer - warmer than many inshore and offshore Caribbean waters.
